Summer’s heat and green gave in to Autumn’s rain and brilliant colors. Daisy had §4,000 in her bank account and an established garden. She’d heard that one could find a cowplant berry when fishing in the canal, but she’d yet to pull one up. Learning to graft, Daisy grafted first a strawberry onto a snap dragon and then a snap dragon onto the dragon fruit resulting from the first grafting. She’d been told she could also produce a cowplant berry this way. Ever since she’d seen the film, “Cowplant Love” last year, Daisy dreamt of caring for her own cowplant. Although she’d never tell anyone about this–not even club members–Daisy quietly worked on her experiment. Cowplants were misunderstood.
Next she grafted an apple onto a pear, producing a pomegranate, and a snapdragon onto a lily, which gave her an orchid. Now grafting these two, she hoped she would be able to grow the mythical death flower. She knew too much time had passed to bring her mother back, but if she could grow death flowers then perhaps nobody else she cared for would be taken by the Grim Reaper.
In addition to selling her harvestables and eggs, Daisy also crafted items to sell. Young Adulthood was fast approaching, and Daisy was feeling confident. She had proven to be responsible, have her emotions under control, and she’d been told she had good manners as well.
Harvestfest dawned cloudy. Daisy invited club members to celebrate and to share a bit of a surprise. She hummed as she prepared the Harvestfest meal and baked a cake. Fortunately, no rain in the forecast meant they could celebrate outside. Everyone enjoyed the meal and then wandered off to tend the garden.

Daisy called them over. “It’s my birthday today,” she announced. A year ago, she and her mom had bought burritos from a food stall. Now, she was living her dream life.
