UPS AND DOWNS

Daisy and Ned attended childbirth preperation classes, prenatal appointments, and parenting classes together. Ned purchased parenting books and read them in his spare time. Now that he had committed to fatherhood, he was going to give it his usual 100 percent.

Pregnancy was rough for Daisy. Her hormones surged, and her moods dropped. She had cravings and felt she was gaining too much weight. The doctor said she was doing fine, but she didn’t feel like it. She lashed out at their AI fridge. Somehow, despite it all, Daisy earned a promotion. Her boss said that she had “real potential but you need a university degree to go any further.” This brought Daisy’s mood even lower.

LilSimzie cheered up Daisy though, and Daisy even agreed to have their portrait taken. Ned told her she’d never looked more beautiful.

Daisy mostly missed her mom, though. At times she wondered about those letters from Glimmerbrook and even took out the biscuit tin to let Ned read through them.

“I’m as confused as you are, Daisy. There is no such world as Glimmerbrook.”

“What about Forgotten Hollow?” she looked hopeful.

Ned shook his head no, “Not on any map I’ve seen. Neither is this place called Moonwood Mill.” He sighed, “It really makes no sense, and I wouldn’t believe it if you hadn’t shown me.”

“Ooh!” Daisy squeaked. “The baby just kicked. Do you want to feel him?”

“Or her,” Ned smiled, gingerly touching her large belly. These mythical lands were forgotten as they discussed their future.
